Malignant mesothelioma is an aggressive tumor of serosal surfaces
Malignant mesothelioma is an aggressive tumor of serosal surfaces, such as the pleura and the peritoneum. This tumor was once rare, but its incidence is increasing worldwide, probably as a result of widespread exposure to asbestos.
Malignant mesothelioma is the most serious of all asbestos-related diseases. Although uncommon, mesothelioma is no longer considered rare.
A malignant (cancerous) tumor of the mesothelium is called a malignant mesothelioma. As most mesothelial tumors are cancerous, malignant mesothelioma is often simply called mesothelioma.
Malignant mesothelioma is a very rare form of cancer, which occurs when malignant cancer cells collect in the thin layer of tissue that lines the chest cavity and protects the lungs, also called the pleura. It can also be found in the lining of the abdomen, or the peritoneum.
After malignant mesothelioma has been diagnosed, tests are done to find out if cancer cells have spread to other parts of the body.

Malignant mesothelioma as a primary tumor of.....
The existence of malignant mesothelioma as a primary tumor of the pleura, peritoneum, pericardium, and other organs has long been controversial.
In autopsy studies, the frequency of malignant mesothelioma varies from 0.02 to 0.7%, with a rate of 0.2% in the largest series of tests.
Malignant Mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer that attacks the cell wall membrane surrounding the body`s internal organs.
Malignant mesothelioma refers to the cancerous variety of a tumor that develops within the lining of the body's internal organs. These thin linings are known as mesothelium.
Among malignant mesothelioma varieties, there are three sub-classifications designated by the specific body lining they affect.

There is currently no known cure for malignant mesothelioma
While there is currently no known cure for malignant mesothelioma, treatments are available with the most common being surgery, or chemotherapy.
Malignant mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer in which malignant cells are found in the sac lining the chest or abdomen. Exposure to airborne asbestos particles increases one's risk of developing malignant mesothelioma. The cancer typically develops 20 to 40 years after a person's exposure
Malignant mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that is diagnosed in approximately 3000 people each year.
Most cases of malignant mesothelioma are caused by exposure to asbestos, a naturally occurring mineral that was used in a variety of industries.
People exposed to asbestos for a long time or exposed to high levels have an increased risk of developing malignant mesothelioma, but even people exposed for a very short time can develop the cancer.

malignant mesothelioma the cancerous cells are in the lining of the chest
In malignant mesothelioma the cancerous cells are in the lining of the chest (pleual malignant mesothelioma) or the abdomen (peritoneal malignant mesothelioma)
According to The National Cancer Institute, malignant mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer, is a disease in which cancer (malignant) cells are found in the body.
Most people diagnosed with mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they breathed asbestos.
Malignant mesothelioma is an uncommon cancerous tumor of the lining of the lung and chest cavity (pleura) or lining of the abdomen.
Malignant mesothelioma affects men more often than women. The average age at diagnosis is 60. Cases of mesothelioma seem to be increasing worldwide. Untreated, the average malignant mesothelioma patient survives 9 months. It is a difficult cancer to treat. Often the disease is too advanced for surgery.
